Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between cloud and on-prem access control?
Cloud access control hosts your management software remotely, so you log in from anywhere with no server to maintain on site. On-prem keeps the controller and database in your building, which suits sites with strict data-residency rules or limited internet. CCS designs both.
Can existing access cards work with a new cloud system?
In most cases yes. Modern cloud platforms read 125 kHz prox, 13.56 MHz smart cards, mobile credentials and PINs. Many can re-encode legacy cards rather than replacing them. Card compatibility is part of the CCS site assessment.
How long does an access control install take?
Timelines vary with scope. Single-door upgrades can finish quickly. Multi-site rollouts with new wiring and integrations are typically planned in phases. CCS provides a written timeline after the on-site assessment.
Does CCS support mobile credentials?
Yes. CCS deploys mobile credentials from Avigilon Alta, Brivo, Verkada, PDK and Kantech.
What happens if the internet goes down with cloud access?
Local door controllers cache the recent cardholder list and decision logic, so doors keep working during outages. Events sync back to the cloud once connectivity returns.
Where does CCS install access control?
San Diego County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County and Imperial County. CCS is headquartered in San Diego at 9560 Ridgehaven Ct.
